Changing the way the world recovers & recycles metal

Descycle is a deep technology company developing disruptive metals processing technologies based on a novel class of chemistry, Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES). Descycle is initially targeting e-waste recycling, replacing smelters with a regional scale integration strategy. Descycle
Descycle is also developing mineral processing applications for battery metals (nickel & cobalt), replacing the incumbent capital intensive HPAL process with a capital light DES process.
DES solvents are environmentally benign (“non-toxic”) and systems operate at low temperatures. This translates into a low energy process that produces low-carbon and low-impact metals. Ultimately, Descycle is aiming to replace the use of pollutive smelters, toxic chemicals and strong acids in metals processing.
The patent pending technology is currently scaling through a 15-month feasibility study and pilot plant program, being executed with our development partner www.uk-cpi.com. With 8 months complete on the feasibility study, Descycle’s process is scaling and performing well. 2022 also saw Descycle sign it’s first joint venture agreement with UK e-waste recycler, GAP Group. The joint venture will be recovering precious and critical metals from e-waste in the UK, disrupting the usual material flow from recycler to smelter.
Descycle has recently closed an upsized and oversubscribed private round, with a Series A round planned for September 2023. The capital raise attracted some of the leading global figures in the metals industry, alongside US and UK venture capital. Having also secured a £1m UK government grant, Descycle is fully funded to execute core technology development and R+D programmes across a range of critical metals.
